Last year, after completing the virtual Camino de Santiago through the Conqueror Series Events, I saw that one could create their own virtual missions through their MyVirtualMission platform. So I started creating a few of my own.
Eventually this led John and I to come up with the idea of Great Run Canada 154: a series of virtual missions in 154km increments in honour of Canada's 154th birthday. I created Newfoundland and Cape Breton, and when I got to mainland Nova Scotia I came up with a great idea. Because I am also an artist and know how much artists are struggling right now, why not marry the fitness with the art and start building a virtual art community that promotes being outside and staying active as well as arts and culture?
So beginning with Nova Scotia, I will start incorporating virtual art cards into the missions. This will mean that the missions become an artwalk, and artists across Canada get to help promote their work to an audience they would not normally have access to, especially now that most of us can't travel.
For more information, please email me at: greatruncanada.ca. To see what missions are currently available, click on the Virtual Missions section at the top of the page.
Email me so we can protect your work with a signed release form. I will be agreeing to only use your image in this specific project and for no other purposes.
Then you will send an image (either of a single piece or a collage of multiple pieces), a short bio about you and the piece(s), where your work can be viewed and how to contact you. You can also offer a discount if you like to help encourage people your direction.
